Football boot with interchangeable outsole
Currently youth/amateur footballers have to buy several pairs of football boots/trainers (with different studs/stud layouts) in order to play on different surfaces. This can be very expensive especially for parents who may have more than one child requiring several new pairs of boots every year as their children quickly grow out of them.
The aim of this project is to design a pair of football boots consisting of an upper part and an interchangeable sole. This means that a player only has to own one pair of boots with different soles to play on all surfaces as opposed to several.
The user puts on the upper and then stretches the outsole attachment over the upper aligning the tread patterns. The attachment is then pulled over the latch at the back. The laces are threaded through the eyelets on the outsole attachment and pulled tight, then tied as normal.
I have always been passionate about sport and as a PDE student I have been able to pursue designing products for this field. As you would expect, I also have a keen interest in sports engineering, especially in how new technology/materials can be used to enhance performance and improve the overall user experience.
