Immediate Car Accident Emergency Response
In the UK, 3/4 of fatal and serious car accidents occur on country roads; this problem is compounded by the fact that these accidents will often go hours or even days without being discovered. In order to achieve a succesful rescue, it is essential to minimise response time.
The solution that I have developed has resulted in a system that immediately alerts a dedicated emergency call centre
with the location and time of a car accident, so that the appropriate response can be made immediately and efficiently.
The focal point of the system is a dual device system which utilises an accelerometer and GPS transceiver. It can be installed to any car and immediately registers an accident and sends the approriate information to the emergency response call centre via satellite.
I found this project appealing as it satisfied my appreciation for design
that improves efficiency - whilst helping create a safer driving experience. Due to
environmental circumstances and legislation, the future of design for efficiency
is an exciting prospect.
