Self Sanatizing Door Handles
ith the the rise in public hygienic awareness, we are always trying to find ways to tackle bacteria and virus cross infections between people. One major cause of this is through surface contact, such as an unsanitary door handle, which may go through long periods of use without being cleaned.
The solution to this problem is to design a device which cleans and maintains the hygiene of a door handle. A self sanatising door handle will reduce the virus and bacteria count, and reduce microbial growth on the surface, and reduce cross infections through surface contact.
The self sanatizing door handle uses Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI)
Technology which emits UVC light at a germicidal wavelength. The UVC rays transmits
through the UV grade glass handle and kills any bacteria or virus's on the surface
of the handle, leaving a sanatized door handle for the next user.
My design approach is influenced by my keen interest in psychology, where I like to approach design from the user perspectives and the issues involved in everyday problems. I generally prefer designs which make an impact in everyday life, a target I aim for in all my projects.
