MyPaper
You decide what's fit to print
The newspaper industry has been declining dramatically over the last decade, reflected in reduced circulation, readership, and profit margins. This is in part because consumers are migrating away from print newspapers to digital sources and that new competitors are offering digital solutions that draw away more advertising revenue every month.
Digital printing technology has improved vastly in quality, speed and price. Unlike traditional printing presses, digital presses can handle varying data, meaning that each printed page can be unique. MyPaper allows the user to create and print a personalised newspaper from interactive kiosks located at convenient locations.
Newspapers, magazines and blogs provide online content, ensuring MyPaper always contains the latest news. At the kiosk, the customer selects specific topics of interest via the touch-screen. Relevant stories and adverts are combined with the desired layout to create a unique paper, which is freshly printed in front of them.
I am pursuing a post-graduate MS at MIT having been awarded a full scholarship from the Kennedy Memorial Trust. Within the Mechanical Engineering department my research will focus on the design of systems and human-machine interaction. I hope this will lead to exciting opportunities and collaborations in design and technology.
