Empowering independent health management
By the age of 65 nearly 2/3 of people have developed a long-term chronic condition. Knowing why medication has been prescribed, how to take it correctly and remembering to take it on time are critical factors in the success of the treatment. Most people find this confusing and frustrating.
Healthbook provides preventative medical care by empowering people to take control of their treatment. It eliminates confusion by guiding the user through the process of organizing weekly medication. The frustration of forgetting to take medication is removed with regular reminder alerts. By promoting independence Healthbook reduces the cost of care.
The system consists of an easy to use smart phone which provides medication information in an accessible, standardized format. When medication is due, the phone issues an unobtrusive audible or tactile alert. It then communicates with a smart pill dispenser which indicates precisely which dosage to take.

1. Removes confusion
The user is guided through the complicated process of organising their weekly medication into individual doses. The smart phone shows exactly which pills to select and Healthbook indicates precisely where to place them.2. Provides peace of mind
The smart phone rings or vibrates to indicate when a dose is due. Healthbook highlights the dispenser compartment so the user knows exactly which pills to take. This ensures that the right medication is taken at the right time no matter where they are.3. Prevents frustration
Healthbook detects when a dose has been accessed. The compartment is highlighted in green so the user can later confirm they took their pills correctly. If the dosage has been missed the compartment is highlighted in red. This prevents the user from taking a potentially lethal overdose.About Student
