WristAssure
Personal Safety Alarm Device
11,838 indecent assaults occurred in Scotland in 2007-2008 (scotland.gov.uk). Attacks can happen at any time and at any place. Having a mobile phone is useless in a physical confrontation as the time and opportunity to call for help is limited and the victim may not have the device at hand.
I have proposed an alarm device which is more effective than current personal alarms on the market which can end up at the bottom of a handbag. It is to be worn around the wrist and different modes of alarm can be activated by pressing the different membrane buttons.
A button is specified for the alert call only if the situation requires discreet notification of emergency. The device is able to connect to the user’s mobile phone via Bluetooth technology. Contact is made to a registered emergency call centre where the call is analysed.
My design interests’ lies in better design for people and the environment especially with increasing demand for more sustainable products. I am also fascinated by the way people interact with products and to design around those human factors. My career aspiration involves working within a team of inspirational designers and engineers, creating innovative designs.
