PatientConnect
The Problem
Staying in hospital can be a lonely, monotonous and anxious time. Currently there are products providing patients with entertainment, information and communication at the bedside. These wall-mounted devices require costly and complex installations. In addition, they are not suitable for the wide range of user capabilities, with many patients finding them very difficult to use.
The Solution
The new design removes the need for any installation. It is a mobile freestanding unit which can easily be manoeuvred within the hospital. It is simply plugged into an electrical socket to simultaneously provide power and connection to the powerline data network. The unit is designed to have a slim profile and a compact form. A touchscreen display is mounted on an adjustable arm to allow flexibility of use and can easily be folded away.
My Transition
My interests lie in human centered design and the interaction between users and technology. I hope to explore these interests further while pursuing a career as a design engineer.
